Deputy Chief Steve Embrich brings decades of dedicated service and leadership to the Los Angeles Police Department Reserve Corps. He joined the LAPD in 1994, rising through the ranks through his steadfast commitment to public safety and community engagement.
Throughout his career, he has held key assignments in patrol, gang and narcotics divisions, and has served as a commanding officer in both the West Valley and Pacific divisions. His leadership has consistently emphasized crime reduction and building trust between the Department and the communities it serves.
Deputy Chief Embrich is also a decorated military veteran. He retired from the U.S. Army Reserve after 32 years of service as a lieutenant colonel, with experience in both field artillery and military intelligence. He was awarded the Bronze Star for his service in Iraq.
Beyond his operational roles, he is a strong advocate for community policing, believing that law enforcement and residents should work hand in hand to create safer neighborhoods. He is also an active member of the LAPD Pistol Team, competing in national police shooting championships.
Raised in Honolulu, Hawaii, Deputy Chief Embrich earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Business Administration and Finance from the University of Hawaii. He is married to Rebecca Embrich, a former Level III reserve officer. They reside in Simi Valley with their two children.
