Thank you for joining us at the 2025 Reserve Gala on May 3 at the Skirball Cultural Center, where we celebrated our Reserve Officer of the Year nominees and service milestones. Congratulations to Bernard Khalili for being our Department honoree and to Doug Pell for over 50 years of service.
We were proud to honor community leaders Dominic Ng, chairman and CEO of East West Bank, and the executive producers of Ballard, Amazon Studios’ new series continuing the Harry Bosch universe.
Special thanks to Chief Jim McDonnell for co-hosting, along with Wendy Burch (KTLA journalist) and Mark Thompson (KFI Radio and podcast host), and to all who support the LAPD Reserve Corps.
The LAPRF continues to fund key initiatives in training, equipment, scholarships, legal support and financial aid — and now, a new health and wellness program that offers discounted early detection screenings for reserves and their families.
We appreciate Mayor Karen Bass’s remarks at the Gala and thank Police Commission President Dr. Erroll Southers, Commander Gisselle Espinoza, Sergeant II Johnny Johnson, and all reserve coordinators and officers citywide for their leadership and support.
We honor the memory of Reserve Officer Charles Nicgorski Jr. (Topanga Area), who passed away on April 17 after over 40 years of service. Our thoughts are with his family and colleagues. Read more about his legacy here.
To all of you and your families — thank you for your service. Stay safe.
