On Saturday, April 11, the Los Angeles Police Reserve Foundation will present the Twice a Citizen awards dinner at the Sheraton Universal Hotel in Universal City. During this annual ceremony, we pay tribute to the hundreds of heroic and selfless reserve police officers and specialist volunteers who donate their time to the LAPD.
In addition to saluting the reserves and specialists of the year, we are honored to present the 2015 Twice a Citizen awards to three outstanding community leaders for their longtime support of our great city, the LAPD and the Reserve Foundation. One is Fourth District Los Angeles City Council Member Tom LaBonge; another is Ira Reiner, president and CEO of the Homeland Security Advisory Council, who also served in Los Angeles public office for over 15 years as City Controller, City Attorney and District Attorney; and third is LAPD Assistant Chief Sandy Jo MacArthur, Director of the Office of Administrative Services, whose 35-year LAPD career spans a full range of operational, administrative and command duties. Their dedication is unparalleled.
The commitment of a reserve police officer is enormous, even more so in these difficult times. These unpaid volunteers serve with only one goal in mind: to create a safer community for all of us. Chief Charlie Beck (who started his career as an LAPD reserve officer in 1975) will join us once again as our host, and will personally thank each honoree for their dedication and commitment to the LAPD.
On behalf of our Board of Directors and more than 700 LAPD reserve police officers and specialist volunteers, we extend to you an invitation to support our Foundation by becoming a sponsor, table or ticket buyer, or by placing a tribute ad in support of our honorees or the Foundation. We hope to thank you personally on April 11.
Our gala evening will begin at 6 p.m. with a cocktail reception and silent auction, followed by a gourmet dinner, live auction and award presentations. We look forward to hearing from you soon, and if you have any questions, please feel free to call our Event Office at (818) 994-4661.
