LAPRF Reimbursing POALAC Training for LAPD Reserve Officers

Dear LAPD Reserve Police Officers,

We are pleased to announce that the Los Angeles Police Reserve Foundation (LAPRF) Board of Directors has voted to offer to reimburse active LAPD Reserve Police Officers when they take a class this year offered by the Peace Officers Association of Los Angeles County (POALAC).

As per the POALAC webpage, “The mission of the Peace Officers Association of Los Angeles County is to lead, train, facilitate, inspire and advocate on behalf of federal, state, county and local law enforcement agencies and private sector security professionals to maximize the safety of those who depend upon us.”

The cost of most POALAC training courses for non-members of POALAC is $75.00. Classes (approx. 1-2/month) are offered throughout the year. Officers can apply for reimbursement of the class cost after successfully completing the class. To request reimbursement (or for reimbursement questions), email msellars@laprf.org. You will be sent a funding request to submit, and you will need to include the completion certificate /receipt. The request must be submitted within 60 days of the class date.

Please note that, at this time, most POALAC classes do not offer CPT credit. The next scheduled class is Cannabis Laws, Investigations, and Prosecution on this January 31, 2019 at the Elysian Park Academy. (Also see LAPRF email sent 1-17-2019) TO SIGN UP FOR CLASSES GO TO THIS LINK. For questions about POALAC classes email lori.blackwell@poalac.online or call 818-291-3483.

(A one-year membership in POALAC is available for $50.00/year but is not necessary in order to take classes. The Membership discounts the $75.00 classes to $50.00. Members also receive the POALAC newsletter. POALAC Membership CANNOT be reimbursed by the Los Angeles Police Reserve Foundation.)

Thank you for your service and be safe.
